The Fenix PD36R PRO is easy to operate even while wearing gloves. The buttons can be accessed freely from any angle. The flashlight is controlled using the two switches located on the tail. Press the round switch fully to turn on the light in constant mode. For silent, momentary activation, press lightly without clicking fully.
To cycle through brightness levels, press the oval switch once. The brightness levels switch in the following order: Turbo > Eco > Low > High.
The strobe mode is activated by pressing the oval button once when the light is off. Alternatively, if the light is already on, press and hold the button for 0.2 seconds to activate strobe mode. Press again to turn strobe off.
The color temperature is approximately 6500 Kelvin.
The operating voltage is 3.0 – 4.2V.
The Turbo mode has a total runtime of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The light generates significant heat at 2800 lumens, and when the temperature reaches a certain level, brightness is automatically reduced to prevent overheating. The runtime is measured as the total time including these automatic brightness reductions, based on the ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard under laboratory conditions at 21±3°C. Yes, the PD36R PRO charges via a USB Type-C cable. Charging time is approximately 3 hours. (The indicator glows red during charging and turns green when fully charged.)
There are two reasons:
1. Intelligent Overheat Protection
During prolonged use in Turbo mode, heat builds up. When the temperature reaches 60°C or higher, the brightness is automatically reduced to protect internal components. Once the temperature drops below 60°C, Turbo mode can be reactivated.
2. Low-Voltage Warning
When the battery voltage drops below a preset level, the flashlight automatically steps down to lower brightness levels until Eco mode is reached. In Eco mode, the light will blink three times every five minutes to remind you to recharge or replace the battery in time.
The recommended battery is 1 × Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 Li-ion. It is also compatible with Fenix ARB-L21-5000U and Fenix ARB-L21-4000P.
